“It starts with a conversation” Sanders 2020 Supporters plan for National Weekend of Action January 26 and 27

DENVER, Colo. January 17, 2019— Following the January 12th livestream events of over 400 house parties nation-wide and over 160,000 tuning in via social media, grassroots supporters are planning a national weekend of action January 26th and 27th.

Senator Sanders has said his decision to run will be based on whether he has the grassroots support he needs to defeat President Trump. The goal of the weekend of action will be to demonstrate this strong support and encourage him to run for president. These volunteer hosted events will generate more conversations about what people want to see from presidential candidates in 2020 and more support for Sen. Sanders.

Volunteers are holding events in high traffic areas to increase opportunity for engaging with the pubic and other creative ideas to spark conversations and include more people. Anyone can host or attend an event in their community by going to map.organizingforbernie.com.

“At this moment in time, we need an authentic, bold leader to take on the issues this next president will face,” said Mandy Nunes Hennessey, a co-founder of Organizing for Bernie.  “Bernie has consistently been an advocate for the working class, a staunch defender of Medicare for all and a leading voice on the climate crisis. We believe sharing Bernie’s positions in these upcoming conversations will engage and energize a new base of support, should he run in 2020.”

Organizing for Bernie is a people-powered volunteer organization comprised of former volunteers, delegates and staff from the Bernie 2016 campaign with a shared mission to lay the groundwork for 2020 should Senator Bernie Sanders announce he is running for President of the United States.
